BEFORE TREATMENT:
*Promptness is expected for all appointments. In the event of late arrival to your appointment, the massage may be cut short due to other commitments of the therapist.
*Before your initial treatment, the therapist will have you fill out an Intake Form with questions about your health history. She will then take a few minutes to ask questions and understand any health concerns you may have or had in the past. A treatment plan will be discussed based on your health history and what your goals are. You will then be asked to sign a Consent Form.
Please notify your therapist of any changes to your health at each treatment session.

*Once in the treatment room, your therapist will explain to you the process of getting on the table. Do not hesitate to ask any questions you may have.

CLOTHING:
*You have the option to remain clothed or undress to your comfort level. Most clients undress down to their underwear. If you prefer to leave clothing on, wear something light and comfortable, such as shorts or yoga pants.
*The therapist will leave the treatment room so that you will have privacy to undress and get on the table.
*You will be asked to cover yourself up with the sheet once you are on the table.
*The therapist will always knock before entering the treatment room to ensure you are on the table and ready to begin the treatment session.

DURING TREATMENT:
DRAPING:
*Only the regions of your body being worked on will be uncovered; the rest will remain covered under the sheet.

*Some massage techniques may be more painful or more uncomfortable than other techniques; be sure to communicate with your therapist to stay within your pain tolerance.
*Be sure to communicate with your therapist:
If you are uncomfortable, tell your therapist.
If you are in pain, tell your therapist.
If you are cold/hot, tell your therapist.
If you are feeling unwell/nauseous/dizzy, tell your therapist.
*Breathe normally.
*Relax.
*If you fall asleep, that's ok!
*If you like to talk during treatment, that's ok!
*If you like to not talk and remain quiet during treatment, that's ok!

Nasal congestion is very common during treatment. Massage increases blood and lymph flow and stimulates the release of histamines. Being face down causes the sinuses to drain into the nasal passages. This congestion is usually only temporary and clears once the clients turns onto their back.

AFTER TREATMENT:
*When your treatment is done, the therapist will again leave the room so you can dress in private.
*Be sure to get up off the table slowly as it is common to get lightheaded or dizzy immediately following treatment. Take your time getting dressed and leaving the treatment room. A restroom and water is accessible to you.
*Drink plenty of water, even after you leave.
*Expect muscle soreness afterward. This is common the day after treatment and is only temporary.
*Your therapist will often give home-care exercises or stretches for you to do at home. It is encouraged that you do the exercises/stretches that are recommended.
*Take note of any changes that you experience between treatment sessions so you can tell your therapist.

EXTRA NOTE:
*If you are not feeling well on the day of your appointment, it is better to call and cancel your session. Stay home and rest instead.
*Please give the therapist ample time if you need to cancel your appointment. No-shows will be charged a $40 fee.

*Don't be self-conscious about your body. Your therapist is a healthcare professional; massage therapists see and treat all kinds of body types, shapes and sizes.
*Don't be embarrassed if you have moles, acne, scars or any other markings on your body.
*Ladies - Don't be embarrassed if you didn't shave your legs. It happens! Not shaving your legs will not affect your treatment at all. :)
Your therapist is concerned about the treatment your body needs, not what your body looks like.
The therapist may refuse treatment to any client or part of their body with just and reasonable cause.
